The prayer was characterized by unanimity, perseverance, petition, and earnestness. Jesus had told them: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about…you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” Jesus had promised them, “you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere…to the ends of the earth.” Pray for unanimity, perseverance, petition, and earnestness to characterize the Church today. We need Holy Spirit empowerment to fulfill our Great Commission.
