Exodus 7:5 (NIV) And when the Israelites saw the great power the Lord displayed against the Egyptians, the people feared the Lord and put their trust in Him and in Moses His servant.
God’s victory over the Egyptians changed the attitude of the Israelites toward God as well as Moses, though only temporarily. “Moses would endure protracted criticism and opposition from the Hebrews” (McNeal). Spiritual leaders of all ages admire Moses because they identify with his struggles. May we never be the kind of congregation that Moses endured. May God help us to trust our leaders, pray for them, hear God’s Word come to us through them, and walk alongside them in obedience to the Lord.
