Joshua 1:5 (NIV) No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will never leave you nor forsake you.
God’s primary promise to Joshua was His unfailing faithfulness. Joshua had been Moses’ assistant. Whenever Moses went into the Tent of Meeting to talk to God, Joshua lingered just outside the doorway. He hungered for God and had been a good disciple of Moses. He knew God’s Word and obeyed it. And those Godly habits would serve him well in this critical transition point in the life of Israel. Joshua would lead a new generation of Israelites into the Promised Land where they would gain a first-hand knowledge of God’s power. They would need to experience God’s miracles for themselves—they could not live off their parents’ rich history. Moses mentored Joshua. Joshua mentored a new generation. Who are you mentoring these days?
