Joshua 1:14-15 (focus verse 14b) (NIV) …you are to help your brothers.
Before the tribes of Reuben and half of the tribe of Manasseh could enjoy their inheritance, Joshua required that they help the other tribes, their “brothers,” obtain their inheritance. The response came: Whatever you have commanded us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go. Just as we fully obeyed Moses, so we will obey you.” (vs. 16-17). (This was an ominous response considering the same words given to Moses in Exodus 17:1-4.) How does the Lord require you to “help your brothers”? Can we fully rest in our spiritual inheritance and blessings when so many others have not yet come into theirs? It is our duty to serve in the Body of Christ and help one another “hit the mark of the high calling in Christ” (Phil. 3:14) and enjoy the fullness of the Spirit-led life. Where are you serving? How are you contributing?
