Deuteronomy 14:1-21 (focus verse 2) (NIV)
…for you are a people holy to the Lord your God. Out of all the peoples on the face of the earth, the Lord has chosen you to be His treasured possession.
Moses exhorts Israel to “distinguish themselves from the neighboring nations by a different mode of life in separation from idols.” They are to “distinguish themselves from the neighboring nations by a different mode of worship in dedication to God” (vs. 22-29). As we follow Jesus, we also will be distinctive in the way we live and the way we worship. This is the message we have heard from the beginning: We should love one another (I John 3:1). “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you” (Jesus to the disciples – John 15:12). Does your mode of life and mode of worship demonstrate your love for God and people?
