Deuteronomy 10:17-19 (NIV)
For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes. He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the alien, giving him food and clothing. And you are to love those who are aliens, for you yourselves were aliens in Egypt.
“God revealed Himself in his majestic sovereignty, His incorruptible justice, and His compassionate justice.” This is the God we serve. When we think of justice—incorruptible and compassionate—and when we look around at the dilemma our country is in with “aliens” and refugees and human trafficking and the killing of unborn babies, we must choose to stand beside our “mighty and awesome” God who defends the weak, the fatherless, and the widows. Pray for our country today. Pray that the wisdom of God and the compassion of God finds expression in our government leaders and the Body of Christ everywhere.
