Genesis 2:16-17 (NIV) And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die.
Man was sovereign under a Sovereign, free to choose, but within the limitations imposed by God. With the spirit they communed with God. With the will they obeyed Him. With the body they served Him. Adam and Eve could perpetuate their happiness if they continued to live in union with God or terminate that happiness if they chose to go beyond the limits of their freedom. Every day they had a choice. When they turned away from the forbidden tree, they developed character. When they ate the forbidden fruit, they experienced death. Every day we have choices that lead to life or death. How are you choosing?
