Deuteronomy 4:1 (NLT) “And now, Israel, listen carefully to these decrees and regulations that I am about to teach you. Obey them so that you may live, so you may enter and occupy the land that the Lord, the God of your ancestors, is giving you.”
The key word in Deuteronomy is OBEDIENCE. Moses’ closing appeal to Israel was meant to “keep inviolate the Covenant of the Lord in order to insure their continued well-being.” Their ability to live in a viable faith, in continued possession of the land (4:1; 25-26, 40), honored by other nations (4:5-8), as His beloved children (7:7-8; 14:1) depended on their obedience to His Word. Our dependence and allegiance to the Lord finds expression through our daily choices—toward Him or away from Him. How are you choosing? How are you being persistent in your faith?
