Daniel 3:17 (NIV) If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king. But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.
“Godly living requires that we exhibit faith during times of adversity and want, as well as during times of prosperity and peace. Compromising our faith when threatened with persecution forfeits the most powerful opportunities for God to manifest His glory.” (Hayford 1995, 216) As we draw closer to the coming of the Lord, Christians will face deepening persecution. We must prepare our hearts for it. Refuse to run with the multitude, do evil, and worship false gods. Reject compromise. “Live in such a way that no charge (except your commitment to your faith) can be found against you. Practice righteousness even when it may be socially frowned upon or politically prohibited. Maintain a clear conscience by living a blameless life.” (Hayford 1995, 216)
