Colossians 3:2 (NIV)
Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.
What does this mean? “Spirit formation is a process of transforming the mind. It is not about behavior modification but rather about transformation of the mind, the heart, the soul, the body, even the social world. When these areas are transformed, we live in the joy of Jesus. But we must find the roots of behavior by examining the spirit, the mind, and the soul, where the sources of behavior come from. At the root of behaviors are beliefs and assumptions. What beliefs have you picked up today? We pick up beliefs like a wool coat picks up lint. Rather than obsessing over behaviors, we must arrange our lives to receive power from Christ so that we will want to do right things. And THAT is the core/essential practice necessary for transformation.” Pay attention to the ways media is pushing and pulling, motivating, or influencing your beliefs. Measure everything against the truth of God’s Word. Your life is with Christ in God.
