Colossians 3:14 (NLT) And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
Those virtues are listed in verse 12: compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. “We need to understand the nature of goodness. It is not DOING the right thing, but rather BECOMING the kind of person who naturally does the right thing because they want to do it. These are two completely different things. Rather than obsessing over behaviors, we must arrange our lives to receive power from Christ so that we WANT to do right things. This is the core, essential practice necessary for transformation.” That means we sit before God daily in fresh surrender and worship. It means we open the Bible and allow its words to illuminate us with wisdom. It means we serve people in need because love must find expression. It means we respond to crises by asking, “Where is God in this? How does He think about it?” Love grows stronger in us the closer we live to Jesus.
