John 21:15 (NIV)
When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you truly love me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.”
“It is one thing to have expectations of Jesus; but its another thing to understand that He has expectations of us” (Noemi Chavez). When do we transition into adulthood in the Kingdom of God? When did you start caring so much for others that you filled your prayers with petitions for their needs above your own? Remember the awesome feeling when your adult child pulled out his or her credit card after a great meal and insisted on paying for it? Adulthood! How long does it take before we shift our attention to the mission God has given us and away from the self-focus that so often consumes our lives? Jesus has expectations of us. How are you “feeding the lambs”? As you mature in your faith, your love for Jesus will find expression through your care for others.
