Psalm 89:14 (NIV) – Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne.
We can be sure that God will act fairly toward people, because God is righteous and just. He upholds those who live uprightly and helps them when they suffer oppression by judging the oppressors (Ps. 72:2-4; 94:14-23). Jesus prayed to His “Righteous Father” (John 17:25). Daniel declared that “the Lord our God is righteous in everything He does” (Daniel 9:14). God always does the right thing. “He judges the wicked, forgives those who repent, and rewards those who live righteously and serve Him obediently.” Our world is not always a just or righteous place, because godless people make bad choices and leave wounded souls in the wake of their bad decisions. However, one day Jesus will return to set our world aright. Until then, we trust in the Lord and do our best to live in righteousness and justice toward all people.
