Joshua 1:8 (NIV) Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night…
Great leaders are careful about where they invest their attention. They are selective in what they read and careful in how they think. God told Joshua that it would be critical for the welfare of all Israel for Joshua to meditate day and night on God’s Word. It would give him understanding and wisdom. Are you living without noticing your thoughts and how they direct your life? Are you having ongoing conversations with trusted spiritual directors with whom you can process your life in light of the scriptures? Do you sit in prayer at the end of each day and invite the Holy Spirit to give you His perspective regarding your “wins” and “losses” (the spiritual practice of “Examen”)? Learn from Joshua. Meditate on God’s Word. (Craig Groeschel’s book, “Winning the War in Your Mind: Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life” is worth the read.)
