Deuteronomy 1:1-46 (NIV focus verse 29-31) …”Do not be terrified; do not be afraid of them. The Lord you God, who is going before you, will fight for you, as He did for you in Egypt, before your very eyes, and in the desert. There you saw how the Lord your God carried you, as a father carries his son, all the way you went until you reached this place.”
Those of us who have walked with the Lord for many years can identify with this verse. In the journey of life, our faith in God roots us deeply into eternal truths that provide us with a kind of life preserver that enables us to survive the tough times. Sooner or later, you will face a crisis that you cannot fix in spite of your best efforts. When all is said and done, you will discover the power of God that is available to His children. Tragedies in life—they come. How will we respond? What derails our faith? Rebellion (1:26). Murmuring (1:27). Discouragement (1:28). Unbelief (1:32). Disregard for God’s faithfulness (1:33). We must keep our eyes on the Lord and remember that He is “the Lord your God who carries you.” “Do not be terrified, do not be afraid…the Lord your God, who is going before you, will fight for you” (1:29). We must learn to TRUST God through it all. How are you doing with that? What battle are you fighting? Beware the destiny derailers. We must learn from Israel’s history (Hebrews 3:16 through 4).
