Joshua 6:10 (NIV)
But Joshua had commanded the people, “Do not give a war cry, do not raise your voices, do not say a word until the day I tell you to shout. Then shout!”
“There is a silence which plays an important part in the ways of the Spirit.”** Sometimes we need to be quiet. God is doing something supernatural. Our small talk is an intrusion, and we need to be focused on the Spirit’s leadership. Jesus told the disciples as He prepared them for a mission trip, “Travel light. Comb and toothbrush and no extra luggage (The Message). Don’t loiter and make small talk with everyone you meet along the way” (Luke 10:4). There are times when we need to be quiet. No words are needed. God may even silence your voice, (Luke 1:19-20), because your words are getting in the way, and He is doing something beyond words. Respect that as part of the Holy Spirit’s “ways.” Live as a Spirit-led believer.
