Exodus 2:15 (NIV) When Pharaoh heard of this, he tried to kill Moses, but Moses fled from Pharaoh and went to live in Midian, where he sat down by a well.
God had to take Moses into the desert of Midian to save him from the wrath of Pharaoh. It was there that Moses had an opportunity to think and find himself as “he sat down by a well.” In the desert God would “drain Moses of all self-sufficiency and make him dependent upon the sufficiency of God. In that desert God would prepare Moses in obscurity with the meekness and fortitude to bear future publicity.” The desert is not an unfruitful place if God has sent us there. Every great man and woman of God has had a desert and a well. Sit down by the well, ponder, and learn your lessons.
