Nehemiah 6:14-16 (NIV) So the wall was completed… When all our enemies heard about this, all the surrounding nations were afraid and lost their self-confidence because they realized that this work had been done with the help of our God.
When the wall was finished, even their enemies recognized the hand of God upon them. Yet, Nehemiah had not finished his task. The second section of the book (chapters 8-10) focuses on the people inside those walls and how the Covenant was renewed and enemies had to be exposed and judged. In the last section of the book (chapters 11-13) the people were restored to obedience to God’s Word. “Many scholars consider Nehemiah’s ministry and leadership a foreshadowing of the role the Holy Spirit plays in leading believers to wholeness.” The Holy Spirit wants to restore and heal us.
