John 20:25 (The Message)
But Thomas… was not with (the other disciples) when Jesus came. They told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he replied, “I won’t believe it unless I see the nail wounds in His hands, put my fingers into them, and place my hand into the wound in His side.”
Thomas was naturally pessimistic. He was a living demonstration of the power of Jesus to dispel doubt. Remarkably, Jesus submitted to the very test that Thomas had demanded. And as he examined Jesus’ hands and side, all his unbelief vanished. Thomas worshipped Jesus as deity: My Lord and my God! The faith of those who believe without seeing is precious. Belief in Christ made a doubter into a confessor. How has belief in Jesus Christ transformed you?
