Ruth 1:1-5 – Brokenness to Fullness
Naomi experiences loss, crisis, and trauma in more ways than any other character in this narrative. However, this story quickly shows us how God can bring fullness into a broken situation. Naomi accuses the Lord by name for the injustice towards her (vs. 13, 21). At first this seems like a negative action. However, it actually indicates that she acknowledged God’s authority over her bitter situation. She professed her belief in His authority over her life. We all have painful experiences in life. Perhaps the beginning of our freedom is on the other side of giving God authority over our pain.
Father, I acknowledge your authority over my life. I stand confident that, no matter whatever heartache exists, you are my Lord and worthy of my worship. I will praise you in the middle of this pain and watch for the ways you lead me and provide for me through it. Amen.
