Exodus 2:11 – One day after Moses had grown up, he went out to where his own people were and watched them at their hard labor. He saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his own people.
Moses was a full forty years old when the afflictions of his people aroused him to action (Acts 7:23). His attempt at bringing justice turned bloody and very quickly Moses became a fugitive in Midian. Moses did not realize it, but God’s eye was on him. “He was unceasingly in the care of benevolent divine providence” (Beutler). While in the court of Pharaoh, God prepared Moses to govern Israel. By his life in the Midian desert God prepared him for communion on Mt. Horeb. By the degradation of keeping sheep God prepared him to bear honor with humility. Each phase was important preparation for the world-changing legacy ahead. Our destiny is not determined by our capacity as it is now but by our capacity to be transformed by God’s power according to His divine purposes. God has purposes for you. What lessons have you learned?
