Romans 12:2 (NKJV) And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind; that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
In her new book, “Get Out of Your Head,” Jennie Allen says: “The danger of toxic thinking is it produces an alternate reality, one in which distorted reasoning actually seems to make sense.” We have an enemy that Jesus labeled “the father of lies” (John 8:44b) and he is committed to deceiving us. He does not want to be recognized. He wants to be considered. He wants to embed his lies in what we might consider rational thinking. But if we have the mind of Christ (acquired through daily meditation on God’s Word), then we can be led by Truth. The enemy wants to lull us into complacency and distraction so that we won’t notice the slow disintegration of our faith. Pay attention! You’ll know you’ve bought into a lie when fears, doubts, restlessness, and a sense of helplessness and worthlessness start to pervade your thinking. Live aware. Fast and pray until clarity comes. This is war between life and death, the Spirit of Christ and the deceiver. Give the Holy Spirit preeminence in your mind.
