Mark 3:14a (NIV) (Jesus) appointed twelve—designating them apostles—that they might be with Him….
In God’s Kingdom, our personal relationship with Christ (i.e. being “with Him”) takes precedence over our service to Him. “If we want to keep going in effectiveness, we must keep coming in devotedness.” That means learning to be alone and stand still (I Sam. 9:27). In addition, God’s people must understand the need for their spiritual leaders to spend time alone with God (Ex. 32:1; Ex. 24:12-16) so they can hear the Word of the Lord and then be able to proclaim it (vs. 13b). Connection to the Lord empowers us for healthy connection with others. How often are you “with” Jesus? Write Him into your daily calendar!
