Galatians 1:8 (MSG) Let me be blunt: If one of us—even if an angel from heaven—were to preach something other than what we preached originally, let him be cursed.
Paul wrote to the Galatians because local influencers were perverting the gospel by mixing faith in Christ with other religious beliefs. It was a “Jesus and” sort of faith (adding Him into their current belief system). We are called to the kind of faith that puts Jesus in the center of life, not a peripheral add-on. Lots of people admire Jesus and can talk using Christian language but do not embrace Him as their Lord. Jesus called us to discipleship—picking up a cross and following Him into places of need and suffering. We have an enemy who wants us to be lulled to sleep with an easy, convenient kind of faith that is steeped in comfort and convenience, focused on what Jesus can do for them, and benign in pushing back his darkness. It is a strong seduction. Study the Bible so that you can identify deception. Pursue a Spirit-led life so you can live in discernment and be equipped with truth.
