DAILY DEVOTIONS – TUESDAY MARCH 23, 2021

I John 2:15  (MSG)   …Don’t love the world’s ways.  Don’t love the world’s goods.  Love of the world squeezes out love for the Father.

Pay attention to your cravings!  Those who are carnally minded (I Peter 2:11) have cravings that war against the soul and lead to spiritual death.  But the yearnings of those who are spiritually minded find life and peace (Rom. 8:6).  How do you self-sooth?  What are your default tendencies when you are under stress, afraid, lonely, angry or bored?  What are the unhealthy habits to which you resort under stressful conditions?  Notice what drains you and adopt healthy responses.  Fast from technology and nurture 15 minutes of silence and solitude with God every day.  Deeply nourish yourself in the Scriptures and prayer.  Stay connected to other followers of Jesus and encourage one another.  Get up and move, take a walk, enjoy nature and give thanks.  Name what you are grateful for each day.  Identify the joy that you encountered today and the beauty that you noticed.  God wants to lift us above the world and its addictions into a life of freedom and joy.  Don’t love the world’s ways.  Look up to the Father.
