Luke 1:56 Before going home, Mary stayed with Elizabeth for about three months.
This means that Mary was probably present when John the Baptist was born. Those first three months of Mary’s pregnancy were critical to the health and development of the unborn Jesus in her womb. And they were critical to Mary emotionally because Elizabeth provided her the kind of friendship and support that would believe her story about an angelic visitation. Both women were pregnant with men of God. Both had experienced supernatural manifestations. But Mary especially needed those affirming words, the prophecy, of her maternal Aunt Elizabeth. Who has the Lord set into your life whom you can trust with your deepest spiritual experiences? Who are your mentors, your sponsors, your coaches to help you in your spiritual development? On the other hand, who are you mentoring, sponsoring, and coaching in their spiritual development? God wants to partner us together so that we can be strengthened in our faith and successfully survive the learning curves of life together.
