Mark 3:14-15 (Jesus) appointed twelve—designating them apostles—that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach and to have authority to drive out demons.
The Holy Spirit equips us. He gives us the necessary means to carry out our God-assigned tasks. There is a great difference between God’s ways and thoughts and ours. His are infinitely higher and superior to ours (Isaiah 55:8-9). So, living a Spirit-led life requires attention to the Kingdom of God, prioritizing God’s Word and its authority in our lives, and staying on task with things that God considers important. We will not have authority to overcome evil in this world through any other means than Holy Spirit power. Only Jesus can transform people’s hearts and minds. And it is in the mind where the warfare rages. God wants to empower us not only so that we can live in victory over evil, but also so that we can dethrone Satan and overcome his strongholds in people’s lives and bring healing to wounded souls. Don’t get sidetracked. We are called by Jesus to be “with Him” and then to speak “to preach” and push back the darkness. How are you doing with that?
