Genesis 3:8 (NIV) Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.
When Adam and Eve hid from God it was an attempt to cover their shame. They made excuses for their behavior. They blamed one another. When they were expelled from the Garden, they no longer felt worthy of love and belonging. Gone were the long walks in the garden with God and the deep relational talks with Him. They missed it; and God missed it, too! In the absence of that divine connection grew feelings that are familiar to most of us: shame, unworthiness, a focus on inadequacies. Their life outside the garden was very different from the one God had designed for them. But God’s #1 priority is always reconciliation, and He always has a plan.
