John 14:5 (The Message)
Thomas said, “Master, we have no idea where you’re going. How do you expect us to know the road?“
Thomas flatly contradicted Jesus. His was a false step in reasoning. “Solutions to human problems are never found in skepticism, but rather in the affirmation of faith. Jesus responded with a positive declaration on which Thomas could base his thinking: I am the way, the truth, and the life (v. 6). It is one of the greatest philosophical utterances of all time. Jesus did not say that He knew the way, the truth, and the life. He did not make Himself the exponent of a new system.” No, Jesus declared Himself to be the final key to all mysteries. He was the way, the truth, and the life. “Christianity is not a system of philosophy, nor a ritual, nor a code of laws; it is the impartation of a divine vitality. Without the way there is no going, without the truth there is no knowing, without the life there is no living.” No one would get to the Father except through Jesus (Col. 2:9 – For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form…). Recognize Him. Worship Him. Follow Him.
