Matthew 5:23-24 (NIV) Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.
Jesus prioritized relationships. His messages were not ethereal concepts disassociated from the nitty-gritty realities of life. He presented timeless truths applicable both then and now. He told people to stop worshipping if they needed to go reconcile with someone. Then, when everything possible has been done to live at peace with one another, we can return to the altar with our gifts of praise. Think of how our lives would change if we lived according to this principle. Consider the strained relationships in your life and ask God for wisdom in reconciling them.
