God deploys holy angels on our behalf. There are 108 references to spiritual hosts in the Old Testament and 165 references to them in the New Testament. They have a definite effect on the activities and affairs of people. In this case, an angel appeared to the Apostle Paul during his ship’s perilous journey to Rome and gave him a message of hope, a promise that God’s purposes would be fulfilled and all those aboard would live. The word of hope was from the mouth of God and delivered by the angel. Sometimes angels shut the mouths of lions (Daniel 6:22). Sometimes they warn of impending danger (Matthew 2:13-15). Followers of Jesus Christ need to remember that God sovereignly uses angels to protect His people when the need arises. We give thanks to God for whatever method of care He provides.
