Colossians 3:12 (NIV) Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
How well are you doing this? Colossians 3:1-17 is fundamental to the Christian life—being transformed by Jesus. “It is a Spirit formation—a process of transforming the mind. It’s not about behavior modification but rather about the sources of behavior: the mind, the heart, the soul and body. Look at the roots of behavior, where it comes from (the spirit, mind, and soul). At the root of behaviors are beliefs and assumptions. We pick up beliefs like a coat picks up lint. The challenge is to ask ourselves daily: What beliefs am I picking up today? That will get you to the root of behavior. We are to experience transformation by Jesus—and that is a Spirit formation that involves the transforming of the mind.” We can change the way we think and process life. We can learn. Christ’s divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness, through our knowledge of Him who called us (II Peter 1:3). So in this moment we have whatever we need. Access it through prayer and discernment.
