Genesis 2:7 (MSG) God formed Man out of dirt from the ground and blew into his nostrils the breath of life. The Man came alive—a living soul.
Are you having trouble “breathing” these days? Does the news take your breath away with reports about Covid, rioting, lawlessness? We must not get caught up in all the doom and gloom and lose heart. Jesus said, “Don’t let your hearts be troubled…” (John 14:1). God’s got this. We need to receive His breath of life every day. Pay attention to what are you breathing in—fear, anxiety, anger? Don’t choke on the spiritually polluted air of this world. Don’t focus on things that don’t honor God. Focus on Jesus; breathe in His life, His breath, His Word, His Spirit. First thing in the morning, present yourself to Jesus for the breath of life. Last thing at night, present yourself to Jesus for the breath of life. (And worship all day long between the two.) Jesus said: “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid” (John 14:27). Amen.
