DAILY DEVOTIONS – MONDAY JULY 20, 2020

1 Peter 5:7-8a (Amplified)  Casting all your cares  (all your anxieties,  all your worries,  and all your concerns,  once and for all)  on Him,  for He cares about you  (with deepest affection,  and watches over you very carefully).  Be sober  (well balanced and self-disciplined),  be alert and cautious at all times.

This is a season of extremes:  extreme opinions,  extreme actions.  And if we are not careful,  we will get out of balance and sucked into the tornadic winds of our time.  God is the only One who can break extremism—remember Paul?  He breathed out threatenings and set his heart on murdering Christians,  all in the name of religion (Acts 8:3).  It was the bright light of Jesus Christ that broke through his darkness and changed his trajectory (Acts 9).  Are we praying for  “scales”  to drop off eyes (Acts 8:18) and the  “light of the glorious gospel”  to shine on us all (II Cor. 4:4)?  We need a divine perspective.  Pray for it.  We must be well balanced and self-disciplined,  alert and cautious at all times.
