DAILY DEVOTIONS – FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 18, 2020

Genesis 2:8 (NIV)  Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the east,  in Eden… all kinds of trees… In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Everyday Adam and Eve had to make a moral choice—to pass by the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil in order to obey God’s directive and not eat from it.  In this way they expressed free will.  And what about that other tree?  What nutrients did it provide to the human body that would enable physical life to persist indefinitely?  When sin disrupted the universe,  Adam and Eve were forbidden to return to that life-giving tree and angels with flaming swords guarded it.  But the Tree of Life lost in Genesis is restored in Revelation 22.  We can only imagine the blessings of that remarkable place.  God restores what was lost.  The Christian journey from here to there is one of redemption and ongoing renewal as we persist in prioritizing our faith.  Keep pursuing God.
