DAILY DEVOTIONS – MONDAY JULY 27, 2020

Mark 10:17-22 (MSG) FOCUS VERSE 21–  Jesus looked him hard in the eye—and loved him!  He said,  “there’s one thing left.  Go sell whatever you own and give it to the poor.  All your wealth will then be heavenly wealth.  And come follow me.”

Do you meditate on the life of Christ?  Is your relationship with God based more on what you believe than on what you experience?  Do you have lots of information about God,  but long to deepen your personal knowing?  Getting to know Jesus is the right place to start.  Watch Him in action as He tells this wealthy young man to offload all the  “stuff”  of his life and focus on heavenly wealth.  We don’t know for sure if he took the challenge and let go of whatever he needed to in order to follow Jesus into a different kind of life and life focus.  We only know that Jesus’  response surprised him.  Have you ever found yourself in the story and been surprised by Jesus’  comments or behavior?  He wants to challenge us from the pages of scripture.  Start reading one of His narratives every day and ask,  “Who am I in this story?”
