Mark 3:14-15 (NLT) Then He (Jesus) appointed twelve of them and called them His apostles. They were to accompany Him, and He would send them out to preach, giving them authority to cast out demons.
What does it mean to be equipped by the Lord? Clearly, of primary importance, it involves “accompanying” Him or “being with Him” (NIV & Message). It also means being provided with the necessary means to carry out a God-assigned task. We can go to seminary, serve as apprentices, enjoy the best mentors, yet still fall short of the kind of effective ministry that God wants for us. Prioritize sitting “with Him” and tuning into His Presence every day. Focus on receiving from Him the empowerment necessary for the day’s challenges. God wants to equip us so that we are ready, not confused and distracted. Don’t let cultural changes upset you. Get the big picture as you sit with Jesus and learn from His Word.
