DAILY DEVOTIONS – MONDAY OCTOBER 11, 2021

Deuteronomy 12:1-32 (focus verse 28) (NIV)

Be careful to obey all these regulations I am giving you, so that it may always go well with you and your children after you, because you will be doing what is good and right in the eyes of the Lord your God.

Here on the cusp of entering the Promised Land Moses reviewed God’s requirements for Israel.  These rules were meant  “to prevent Israel from corrupting the worship of God with idolatrous practices”  that would be all around them.  Israel would be tempted to compromise their faith practices.  The sinful culture of the Canaanite people that had so corrupted them (to a level of severe judgment) must not seep into the culture of God’s people.  Moses was firm.  Today as we align ourselves with the teachings of Jesus and  “do what is good and right in the eyes of the Lord,”  we find stability, wisdom, goodness and righteousness and truth–all the blessings of the Spirit-filled life (Eph. 5:19).  Do what is right in the eyes of the Lord.
