The work of the Creator is perfect. In each step of creation God sees that it is “good,” perfect in its particular stage of development. Each step fulfills its purpose and conforms to God’s plan. Finally, when He completes His creative work, God sees that it is “very good,” perfect in every detail. This perfect work is a source of encouragement to the believer who struggles to overcome his imperfections. The God of the “new creation” not only begins a good work in us, but also carries “it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus” (Philippians 1:6). And one day we will hear the same words in a different context as He says, “Well done, you good and faithful servant” (Matt. 25:23).
