Genesis 17:1(NIV) When Abram was 99 years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, “I am God Almighty (El Shaddai); walk before me and be blameless.
“El Shaddai” indicates strength and refers to God’s power or omnipotence. God can do anything that is consistent with His will and nature. The name “El Shaddai” is first linked with God’s promise to multiply the seed of Abraham in seemingly impossible circumstances. Job references El Shaddai 31 times—more than any other book of the Bible. In Job it is used in the sense that God exercises ultimate sovereignty. God is powerful and able to do anything He wills. He has unlimited power and works on behalf of the righteous and executes judgment on the unrighteous with the same unlimited power. You can use this wonderful name of God in your prayers as you call upon El Shaddai to intervene in your circumstances. Age to age He is the same in the power of His name. We will praise and lift You high, El Shaddai.
