Ephesians 6:18 (MSG) In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.
We can usually take a hit and get back up; but when we are hit repeatedly (like in Job’s story) and when it continues over a long period of time, it becomes easy to get discouraged and overwhelmed. Satan went to Jesus after 40 days of fasting, at the height of His physical weakness and hunger, to assault Him with temptations. It is when we are at our most vulnerable, emotionally and physically, that we face temptations to “fall behind or drop out” on this journey of faith and default to old addictions and dysfunctional habits. We need each other. We need to live alert to one another’s weaknesses so we can call and check on each other and pray for one another and meet each other’s needs in very practical ways. Who do you need to call today? Who do you need to pray with and encourage in the Lord? Prayer is essential. Keep your eyes open.
