Proverbs 4:23 (NIV)
Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.
DON’T NEGLECT YOUR SOUL. Another version reads: Be careful what you think. Your thoughts will shape your life. We are careful to guard our money, our phones, our houses, and cars; but what gets stuck in your heart? Is it unguarded? Words get stuck there! When the heart is unguarded, we lose our joy. Are you deceived by what you believe? Thoughts take you captive into anxiety, insecurity, and feelings of inadequacy. Think about what you think about! Craig Groeschel says our lives run along the lines of our strongest thoughts. If we focus on anger, resentment, and self-hatred, then a steady flow of toxins attach to your soul, attack your physical immune system. The mind and body are critically connected. Your thoughts are your choice. You can’t control what happens TO you, but you can control what it does IN you. Fix your thoughts (see Phil. 4:8). Study Phil. 4:6-7. It is the formula: Be anxious for nothing (no thing). The peace of God is the person of Jesus. You guard your thoughts, and He will guard your heart. *
