DEVOTIONS – MONDAY JUNE 17, 2019

Genesis 1:26-27 (NLT)  Then God said,  “Let us make human beings in our image…

so God created human beings in His own image…”

What does it mean to be created in the image of God?  The verse unpacks the incredible responsibilities mankind was given to reflect the image of God in the physical world,  to have dominion over the whole earth,  to exercise authority over everything created,  and more.  Of course,  we know what happened in the Garden and how Satan usurped authority and how the lust of the eyes,  the lust of the flesh and the pride of life became endemic to the human soul  (I John 2:16).  But once we embrace faith in Jesus,  the reset button gets pushed and we start life anew—back to divine purpose:  becoming God’s image-bearers in a fallen world.  How are you doing that?  More than recycling and tree-hugging—we must impact people with the redemptive love of God and serve as a conduit of Christ’s authority in a sin ravaged world.  Your impact is needed.  All hands on deck!  Reflect God.  Take dominion over evil.  Walk in divine authority.  Live out your  “high calling of God in Christ Jesus” (Phil. 3:14).
