DEVOTIONS – MONDAY MARCH 30, 2020

Exodus 16:4a (NIV)  “Look, I’m going to rain down food from heaven for you.”

Only one month into their desert journey to the Promised Land and “the whole community of Israel complained about Moses and Aaron” (vs 2). How quickly we move from celebration and praise to murmuring and complaining! But God did not retaliate against their discontent. Instead He promised an adequate supply for all: meat in the evening and bread (manna) in the morning. God did His part with a miraculous provision; but they needed to do their part (be responsible and follow the rules). The “divine provision was intended to: 1) provide sufficiency for all without surplus or lack (vv. 17-18); 2) discourage hoarding in unbelief (vv. 19-20); encourage diligence in making use of the time of opportunity (v. 21); and discourage tardiness until the opportunity was ‘melted’ (v. 21).” What lessons have you learned about God’s provisions for you in your times of need?
