DEVOTIONS – MONDAY SEPTEMBER 16, 2019

John 15:16 (NIV) –  You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will last…

The term  “apostle”  means:  “one sent forth”  (Luke 10:1).  Jesus did not send out His twelve disciples without preparing them through specific methods and means—principles that He continues to use today to prepare those He has chosen for Christ-centered ministries.  Some go without being called and without a message from God;  they are self-sent  (II Sam. 18:19-32).  Some are put into the ministry by men  (Acts 1:15-26).  False apostles are those sent by Satan in the interests of his kingdom  (II Cor. 11:13-15).  And some are actually called by God to fulfill the Great Commission  (Rom. 1:1).  When God calls someone for the work of the ministry,  it is in full cognizance of that person’s unique personality,  assets,  liabilities,  and idiosyncrasies.  God calls all of us to find our places of service in His great Kingdom:  but those He taps to lead His churches carry a huge responsibility to lead God’s people  (I Peter 5:2 NIV).  Pray for our pastors every day as we endeavor to faithfully shepherd His flock at WEAG.
