John 2:27 (NIV) – As for you, the anointing you received from Him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you… remain in Him.
The anointing of the Holy Spirit enables us instinctively to differentiate between truth and error. This verse is not a proof text for eliminating study and getting all weird with your faith. Rather, it calls us to pay attention to the nuanced leadings of the Holy Spirit in our daily lives. He is our teacher. Sometimes He teaches us from the pulpit, from reading the Bible, from the experiences of others. But other times He walks with us through our own experiences and whispers direction, information, understanding, and wisdom that could come no other way. Distractions exist all around us. Remain in Christ. Let the Holy Spirit bring scripture to mind to guide you through minefields of temptation. Learn to focus your thoughts and center your heart on Christ. Here is another mystery of the Kingdom: the anointing we have received from Christ.
