Proverbs 16:21 – The wise in heart are called discerning, and pleasant words promote instruction.
Ever find yourself in a tense situation in which everyone’s nerves are on edge? It can be difficult to keep a calm spirit, lowered voice, and reassuring demeanor in such situations; but they are fundamental to the process of helping people work together through a problem. God wants us to be fluent in the language of discernment. We must learn to be wise in heart and listen beyond the words spoken to us. The Lord wants us to have great communication and relational skills, and He is at work giving us opportunities to learn and grow in those areas. Be patient. Slow down. Take a deep breath. Ask the Lord to help you become more discerning and gentle in spirit during difficult conversations.
