As the Japanese army forced Darlene Deibler Rose and her fellow missionaries into trucks to be taken away to prisoner of war camps, Darlene heard the voice of her beloved missionary mentor calling to her. They were the last words she would hear from him before he died in that camp: “Remember, be a good soldier of Jesus Christ.” Through every trial in that awful place, Darlene kept in mind his challenging call.
