HOLY WEEK DEVOTIONS – FRIDAY APRIL 10, 2020

Mark 15:34 (The Message) At noon the sky became extremely dark. The darkness lasted three hours. At three o’clock, Jesus groaned out of the depths, crying loudly, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which means, “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?”

Have you ever felt abandoned?  Sometimes when God doesn’t seem to be showing up,  we hear only silence.  Yet,  God’s goodness is most manifest–but we are blind to it.  Hold onto your faith,  because God will reveal Himself as we walk the pathway of suffering.  We don’t understand the cross:  being misunderstood,  feeling forsaken,  wading into broken humanity to serve the lost and forgotten.  To suffer the loss of all things means to say with Paul,  “I have been crucified with Christ.  It is no longer I who live,  but Christ who lives in me.”  Today is Good Friday,  so meditate deeply upon Jesus’  death.  Linger in the truth of the cross.
